Welcome back, Andy Van Etten, to LAYC’s Board of Directors!

Andy Van Etten first joined LAYC’s Board in 2011 and immediately rolled up his sleeves to help transform the 2012 GALA with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC playbook. He has been helping with each GALA since then.

Andy is a Technology Director at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, working with BlueCross BlueShield companies across the country to adopt centralized applications. Due to work travel, he left the board in 2019, but returned in 2024 to continue helping LAYC on the development committee.

What does he like most about serving on the board? Working with CareFirst to expand our support of LAYC youth through GALA table sponsorship, grants, and volunteer opportunities for CareFirst associates looking to make a difference.

In his free time, Andy enjoys daily morning bike rides through DC, exploring new cultures through international travel—he's visited over 50 countries so far—and diving into the deep with his passion for scuba diving.
