LAYC’s Foster Care program provides housing and intensive case management to children and youth in DC. The program ensures foster families are prepared for the responsibility of being a caretaker for a child in the foster care system through a certification process, training, and support to foster parents. Volunteers are needed to help with outreach efforts in order to recruit new potential foster parents. These efforts include posting flyers and distributing brochures in the community, attending outreach events in the community, and helping staff plan and organize recruitment presentations. The ideal volunteer will have flexible availability, preferably between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Bilingual Spanish-English speakers are preferred for helping to recruit NEP/LEP (non-English proficient/Limited English proficient) Spanish speaking families, but not required.
