Stephanie Sneed joined the LAYC family around a year and a half ago as the Stages of Life program coordinator, a sexual wellness program that serves 300 middle school students at partner schools each year. Stephanie expanded her role this year to coordinate the AmeriCorps members’ annual training series. These efforts have made a tremendous impact on the professional development of our members as they serve in the schools where we offer the Stages of Life program. Her oversight and hard work ensured we met our outcome goals for the program.
Her dedication to the AmeriCorps members and her team-building initiatives have inspired the members to move forward and complete their goals day to day. In the words of one of the AmeriCorps members, Tyvon Hewitt, “Her leadership over the Stages Of Life program has allowed us to meet all of the needed outcomes and push us beyond the bounds of what we even thought was possible. To me, true leadership should always come from the corazon.”
Outside of her program coordinator role, Stephanie serves in the Community Organizing for Racial Equity (CORE) staff committee where she employees her passion for social justice matters. She has played an integral part in offering the People’s Institute Undoing Racism training.
Stephanie’s hard work, dedication to our AmeriCorps members, and fresh perspective makes her the July 2016 Staff Spotlight.
