YouthRadio DC

Youth Radio DC is a joint program of the Latin American Youth Center, Youth Radio in Berkeley, California and XM Satellite Radio in DC. Youth Radio promotes young people’s intellectual, creative and professional growth through training and access to media. By providing hands on experience in radio to young people, Youth Radio DC not only provides participants with practical experience, but also gets youth voices heard.

YouthRadio provides youth with hands-on training in radio journalism and media advocacy as a tool for literacy enhancement, violence prevention and personal and career development. YouthRadio in-house trainings have three phases: Introductory, the advanced bridge and the internship placements.

Teen Talk
Teen Talk is a bi-weekly radio show hosted by members of the Youth LEAD program.  Each episode features interviews, music, commentaries, and movie reviews.  Through the show, Youth LEAD members hope to inform both themselves and others about issues important to teenagers.  Teen Talk especially focuses on the connections between substance abuse, sexual risk-taking behavior, violence, and mental health.

Questions and comments for Teen Talk hosts can be sent to: teentalk@riseup.net.

Teen Talk is a collaborative effort by Youth LEAD and the Art & Media House.
