Teen Health Promoters Program Says Thank You

Thanks to generous in-kind contributions from several organizations throughout the DC metro area (see list below), LAYC’s Teen Health Promoters program raised almost $2,000 at an auction on the evening of June 6. All proceeds will go to support the THP program, which exposes 10th and 11th grade students to health issues, such as teen pregnancy, STDs and diabetes, and trains the students to staff a teen clinic at Mary’s Center and Health Street at Unity Health Care, Upper Cardozo Clinics. At the clinics, the students take vital signs and provide health information to their peers.

Among the items donated and then auctioned off were rock-climbing passes from Earth Treks, tickets to DC Improvisation Comedy Theatre and AFI Silver Theatre and Culture Center, dance classes at Joy of Motion; and delicious brunches and dinners at several restaurants. Thanks also to Ventnor Sports Café for donating the space for the auction.
