For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 Soccer Program Celebrates End of Season and Prepares for New Class WHAT: During a closing ceremony of Maryland Multicultural Youth Center’s Riverdale community soccer league, sixty youth will receive certificates, trophies and prizes for their relentless participation during the 07-08 soccer season. MMYC and the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association partnered in 2007 to launch Riverdale’s first official soccer league open to all community kids from 11 to 16 years old. What started with 3 kids has escalated to become a well sought after league by diverse youth in the Riverdale and surrounding areas Langley Park, Hyattsville, Riverdale Hieghts, College Park). In addition to providing a recreational outlet for diverse local youth, the MMYC soccer program’s ultimate goals are to instill academic success and community involvement among youth. The soccer wrap up ceremony will also serve as informative session for parents or tutors whishing to enroll their children in the free of charge program.
