Telemundo’s Janet Rodríguez Joins MMYC and LAYC at Community Event
Janet Rodríguez, on-air personality for Telemundo’s Telenoticias Washington Última Edición Newscast, will join the Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers (MMYC) and the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) at a Meet-and-Greet community event in Silver Spring, MD.
Whole Foods Market in Silver Spring will donate 5% of its proceeds from Wednesday, January 16, 2008, to the Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers to contribute to the organization’s mission to support low-income youth and their families in their determination to live, work, and study with dignity, hope, and joy.
Five Percent Day is organized to create awareness about resources available in the community and about how to purchase and prepare healthy foods.
Shoppers will be able to consume healthy products throughout the day as they contribute to a worthy cause and receive information about programs available to them.
“MMYC and LAYC are delighted to have Janet Rodríguez and Telemundo’s support in this day dedicated to community and education,” said Luisa Montero, Managing Director of the Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers.” “As a young professional working in the diverse DC metropolitan area, Janet is an inspiration for youth and adults.
