Ice Cream Fiesta—What a Delight!

Vanilla with sprinkles: yummy; chocolate chip cookies: give me more; peanut butter cup: how tasty; strawberry and cake batter flavors: how fun! With summer right around the corner, what better way to get an early start than with an ice cream fiesta during Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day on Tuesday, April 29. The Latin American Youth Center’s Eastern Market Ben & Jerry’s PartnerShop is a proud participant of this nationwide event where free ice cream scoops of more than 30 flavors are distributed.

Free Cone Day was launched by Ben & Jerry’s founders to thank community members for their business and congratulate Ben & Jerry’s staff for their arduous work.

“We want to show our appreciation to the community for their support,” said Scott Perry, Director of LAYC’s WISE (Work Investment and Social Enterprise). “This event also gives LAYC an opportunity to educate the community about our work.”

PartnerShops are Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops that are owned and operated by community-based nonprofit organizations. Ben & Jerry’s waives the standard franchise fees and provides additional support to help nonprofits operate strong businesses. In 2002, LAYC became the first non-profit in Washington, DC to take part in Ben & Jerry’s PartnerShop program.

Tell your friends and family: April 29th, Ben & Jerry’s, 327 Seventh Street, SE, Washington, DC, noon to 8 PM to get your free ice cream, or two, or three….
