Girls Youth Leadership

The Girls Youth Leadership Program is designed to educate young females within the community about the risks and costs of violence and to empower each individual to protect herself and others against violent acts. The program also teaches critical life skills, builds self-esteem and peer support, and encourages young females to care for themselves and others who are victims of violence.

The LAYC Girls Youth Leadership Program (GYLP) has established an age appropriate program for female youth that are at risk of gang involvement or negative activity in the community. The program will work with young females in-school and after-school hours. It will develop a positive structure and environment and implement educational, community service, cultural activities and recreational settings that encourage the development and mutual trust between the youth, police officers, and the community.
