Bard College An Educational Opportunity for the Washington, D.C. Community Benefits to Clemente Course Participants:The Bard College Clemente Course In The Humanities is based on the belief that an encounter with the humanities can promote your personal growth and development, enrich your life, deepen your cultural awareness, improve your powers of thought and self-expression, and help create important new educational opportunities. Topics of StudyThe Humanities are subjects that form an important part of our cultural heritage. They refer to the experiences and the thoughts of human beings as expressed in art, sculpture, painting, literature, poetry, philosophy and history. The Bard College Clemente Course in the Humanities is a free, six credit college level course that will introduce you to some of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers and artists. Classes meet two evenings per week during a period of eight months. These subjects will be studied:

Criteria for Admission
College Credit/CertificationStudents who successfully complete the 28-week course will receive six college credits from Bard College. Students completing the course, but not meeting the requirements for college credit, will receive a Bard College Certificate of Achievement. CostsThere are no costs to Clemente Course students. If you are accepted into the course, all costs, including tuition, books, carfare and childcare, will be provided. Class ScheduleClasses meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm starting November 2004 and running through June 2005, with holiday breaks.
