The Teen Health Promoters program of the Latin American Youth Center, trains students enrolled in the 9th-12th grades to be peer health educators and participate in a clinical internship with Unity Health Care clinics or Community of Hope Clinic.

Participants will be exposed to various topics focused in health promotion and disease prevention and health careers. A few of these health-related topics include teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and diabetes. They will be trained to take patients' basic vital signs and receive CPR/first aid certification. In addition to work in the clinics, participants will co-facilitate educational training on HIV/AIDS with their peers and engage in outreach and community events.

This program creates a welcoming environment for teen patients and exposes the teen health promoters to the health field, trains them to become professionals in a clinical setting, and to serve as role models in the community while gaining valuable experience.
