The Girl’s Youth Leadership Program On Youth Violence targets females involved or at risk of being involved in gang activity. The program is designed to educate young females within the community about the risks and costs of violence and to empower each individual to protect herself and others against violent acts. It instills critical life skills, builds self-esteem and peer support. The program also monitors behaviors, school attendance and academic support. Through the skills and support they gain they are then able to give back to there community by assisting in community events, organizing dances/parties for there peers, participate in Mayoral events as well as expressing themselves thru dance and theatre on a youth violence issue that gives a positive message.

The LAYC Girls Youth Leadership Program (GYLP) on youth violence “Girl Talk” has established an age appropriate program for female youth that are at risk of gang involvement or negative activity in the community.
