LAYC's Advocacy Division works to influence public policy and practices and social systems that affect low-income immigrant and minority youth in Washington DC and Maryland.

Through an array of activities involving staff and youth, such as testifying at public hearings, participating in and building coalitions, lobbying, public relations and organizing, the Division articulates and amplifies community perspectives that are often marginalized in public decision-making processes.

Division focus areas include, but are not limited to, increasing linguistically and culturally competent mental health services for youth, increasing the quantity and quality of youth employment opportunities, reducing youth violence, and just and fair immigration reform.
