Yes, that's Bon Jovi! The two lucky gals in this photo are LAYC's very own Cynthia Sanchez (left) and Adriana Bonilla.

Cynthia and Adriana attended the White House launch briefing of the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Summer Jobs+ initiative, which was also attended by President Obama and Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.

Summer Jobs + is an initiative in which the government is asking corporations to hire more youth in the summer. DOL will launch an online search engine where youth can search for these jobs.

Cynthia and Adriana are both alumni of the DC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).  Cynthia and Adriana talked with the Department of Labor and Univision about their experience in SYEP and how this program lead them to their current jobs. Cynthia is a human resources payroll manager at LAYC and Adriana is an LAYC AmeriCorps member.

During the briefing, the two ladies met with executives from major corporations such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Jamba Juice, Year Up, Bank of America, JP Morgan and others, and participated in workshops aimed to ensure disconnected at-risk youth are included in this initiative.
