What is IMPACTO?

IMPACTO is the Latin American Youth Center’s (LAYC) non-profit consulting firm.  LAYC is one of the nation’s most respected youth development agencies.

IMPACTO’s purpose is to promote positive youth development by sharing LAYC’s decades of experience creating, refining, and evaluating quality programs for low-income youth and their families.

IMPACTO offers:

• Overview of Excellence site visits: Tour any LAYC site to watch programs in action, talk with staff and youth, and learn how to design successful multi-cultural programs and create sustainable organizations.
  • Program-specific consultation: hourly and multi-day training and technical assistance in:
  • Substance abuse and mental health programming in a youth development setting;
  • Residential programs for homeless and runaway youth;
  • Community-based art and media programs;
  • Boutique charter schools for disconnected youth;
  • Out-of-school-time state of the art fitness programs;
  • Parenting skills for young men;
  • Additional areas upon request.
• Promotor Pathway: Re-engaging disconnected youth through intensive client management; Violence Prevention/Intervention strategies through community partnerships;
• Evaluation: Using data collection and outcomes measurement to building a learning organization;
• Design Your Own: IMPACTO staff will customize a workshop based on your organization’s specific needs.

Fees:

$150 per hour; $1,000 per day (does not include travel expenses if LAYC staff visit your site).

Initial phone and e-mail conversations with IMPACTO staff to determine consulting package offered free of charge.

Examples of IMPACTO training and technical assistance packages:

Overview of Excellence: 1-2 hours spent at LAYC sites of your choosing.

Out-of-school-time Fitness Programs:

1-2 hours at LAYC plus 1-2 days of follow-up work, either at your site or by phone and e-mail, as you prefer.

Creating an Evaluation Culture

A member of LAYC’s Learning and Evaluation staff will spend a full day with your organization and provide:

• An extensive discussion of programmatic and/or organizational outcome measures;
• An examination of your organization’s data collection procedures and feedback on how they can be improved;
• Two of the following:
  • Data Collection and Outcomes Management: facilitated two-hour meeting with your organization’s senior-level staff to demonstrate the importance of data collection and outcomes measurement;
  • Outputs v. Outcomes Workshop: What’s the difference and why should we care?
  • Changing the Culture, Changing the Conversation Workshop
  • Logic Models Workshop: What They Are and Why They Are Useful
