Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the Latin American Montessori Bilingual (LAMB) Public Charter School's web page. Our goal is to provide information about our school, its academic philosophy and mission and how to get involved.

As a charter school, LAMB is free and open to all District of Columbia residents. In school year 2007-2008, LAMB has 122 students in preschool (3-, 4- and 5-year-olds) through 3rd grade. The school will add a new grade each year and will go up to the 6th grade by 2010. To learn more about the school, please join us at one of our open houses. For open house dates and times, click here.

Students at LAMB work together in multi-age classrooms using a hands-on Montessori dual language immersion approach (English and Spanish). Half of LAMB's students come from Spanish language dominant families and half are from non-Spanish language dominant families. LAMB is the only dual-language Montessori public charter school in Washington, D.C., and one of just a handful in the United States.

LAMB students use Montessori materials that are developmentally appropriate, self-correcting, and ordered from simple to complex. Students will learn, master, and be able to apply academic content in language arts, mathematics, and science in two languages.

LAMB is located at its permanent home, the Military Road School, at 1375 Missouri Avenue, NW, DC.
