Kynai Johnson is Deputy Director for LAYC’s Education & Workforce programs. She’s been at LAYC for four years, is extremely dedicated to its mission, and is particularly focused on serving young people and communities of color. A tremendous asset to the organization, Kynai has exceptional analytical and organizational skills, which she uses to identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness. Kynai is smart and hardworking and never says no when a team member needs assistance. In addition to her work in the Education Department, she serves on LAYC’s CORE and Safer Space Committees, is a member of LAYC’s Associate Board, and is a certified Positive Youth Development (PYD) trainer. Two of the characteristics I admire most about Kynai are her drive and work ethic. On top of everything she does at LAYC, she recently completed her clinical hours and passed her LICSW exam. And she’s not stopping there: she’s working on her PhD and already is an adjunct professor at Catholic University. Kynai truly embodies the values of LAYC and of her profession. No matter how busy she is, she’s always ready to assist a colleague or youth!
