The Social Worker provides a variety of child welfare services to children, youth and to their biological and foster families with the purpose of achieving the permanency, safety and well-being.
- Serves as the lead worker for an interdisciplinary team to assess and monitor a client’s needs, ensure that services are provided, and recommend a permanency goal;
- Develops a complete psychosocial assessment of the client;
- Conducts home visits with in and out of home youth as required by CFSA;
- Assesses needs of clients, biological and foster families and develops plans to address those needs;
- Works with foster and biological families toward the attainment of permanency goal;
- Represents clients’ cases in court and provides status updates regarding the child’s and/or the families’ psycho-social progress and LAYC’s compliance with recommendations contained in the case plan, court-orders, treatment plans, etc;
- Responds to crisis situations and is part of rotating on call system;
- Assists in placement of children and youth in LAYC homes;
- Coordinates implementation of court ordered services.
- Maintains up-to-date case records;
- Prepares court reports and submits them to court 10 days prior to a scheduled hearing;
- Provides referrals based on clients’ needs and makes sure that clients receives necessary assistance;
- Documents all contacts with youth, family members, LAYC staff and representatives from other agencies involved in the provision of the services in FACES and ETO a timely manner and in accord with clients, program and CFSA outcomes;
- Attends meetings in and out of the LAYC in representation of the case;
- Attends meetings with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager on a weekly basis;
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- MSW; LGSW; and at least two-year experience in child welfare and/or juvenile justice is recommended;
- Ability to relate to culturally diverse population;
- Pre-service training at Child and Family Services Agency;
- At least one year experience working in the child welfare system;
- Complete medical, FBI and child abuse and neglect clearances;
- Driver’s license;
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs. May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
